In this coverdesign for the remix album, a Generative Neural Network (GAN) meets a well-known Expressionist painter. As a designer, a machine learns the artistic composition and characteristics of a human hand working with brush, oil and turpentine, creating a space of iterations from countless variations of individual surface ensembles of hundreds of thousands of pixels. Yet the impression of a human origin remains discernible in the result. A machine-like painterly city view emerges. A distant sound of the painter’s visions in a visual simulation. The album contains 12 remixes – 12 binary codes that formulate an abstract but precise order as typography. The complete work breaks down into its individual technical parts on the cover and thus finds its own place in the intuitive world of humans.
